Happy Holiday Crafting! Michelle here from Michelle's Party Plan-It with a Santa's Milk & Cookies Sizzix Tutorial! Do your children still BELIEVE? My little one does and it's such a delight to create the magic for him. Like a lot of families, we leave out a glass of milk and some cookies for Santa every Christmas Eve to say thank you for his generosity and hard work. This year my son and I wanted to do a something special for the big guy, so we embellished a glass jar using the Santa's Belt Card Thinlits Die Set and Sizzix Big Shot.
To get started you will need the Santa's Belt Card Thinlits Die Set, Sizzix Big Shot, Magnetic Platform, Cutting Pads and glittery cardstock. Since all the pieces are fairly small, you can use up your paper scraps. Start by making a sandwich with the Magnetic Platform, a Cutting Pad, the cardstock, Thinlits and lastly another Cutting Pad. Next pass the sandwich through the Big Shot.
You will need to cut an additional HO HO HO strip to go around the whole jar. When all cut, you will have two belt strips, once buckle and a rectangle background piece. Cut the rectangle background piece in half at the crease.
Assemble one belt by sliding the buckle through the slot on the HO HO HO strip and glue both pieces to the large square buckle piece. Cut the second belt strip at the "H" in the last "HO!".
Glue the first belt strip and buckle pieces around the middle of the jar, centering the buckle.
Glue the second piece of belt strip and align it to the already glued belt strip.
With a craft paint brush, cover the entire jar (except the rim) with clear Mod Podge. Let dry then repeat.
Once entirely dry, brush more Mod Podge to the rim of the jar and sprinkle on gold glitter. Once dry, you may want to brush a layer of Mod Podge on top of the glittered rim to keep the glitter from flaking off.
To make the "Cookies for Santa" Sign, print my free printable available here on white cardstock. Next, die cut the sign using the Santa's Belt Card Thinlits, Magnetic Platform and Cutting Pads by making a sandwich as described above. Pass through the Big Shot, then fold at the crease line.
And that's it! Just think how impressed Santa will be when he arrives at your house on Christmas Eve to find a fancy glass of milk alongside delicious cookies!
I hope you and your children enjoy recreating this fun Sizzix project!
Note: Final project is recommended for Santa and decorative use only.
