Sizzix Tutorial | Spring Greetings Sign by Monika Baptista

Hello, Friends! It’s Monika here from Life With Lovebugs for today’s Sizzix Tutorial. Spring is officially here, even if the weather outside isn't that warm! But soon enough the flowers will be blooming and the sun will be shinning. For today's Sizzix tutorial I'm sharing with you a bright floral wooden sign I made to hang next to my Spring mantel. Ready to get started?

Normally for a hanging sign I use an flat art canvas, but I thought this wooden craft board would be a a nice change. They cost $1 at most craft stores, so I usually have several on hand for projects.  I've been crafting with a lot of pastel colors for Easter so I wanted to use a different combination - yellow, green and orange.

For this project I used pieces from Sizzix Thinlits Daisy Bouquet and Sizzix Framelits Bonjour, Paris to decorate my sign. To die cut these pieces I used my Sizzix Big Shot with a Magnetic Platform to keep the pieces in place, your Sizzix Sandwich should be: Magnetic Platform, Cutting Pad, Paper, Die. Cutting Pad.

For the stamped "Greeting" message I used the Sizzix Framelits Carte Postale along with a clear stamp block and a green ink pad. Once you have a message stamped, die cut the message using the coordinating die shape. This is where the Magnetic Platform  comes in handy the most to keep the die in place around your stamped message.

Once you have your paper pieces die cut, glue them to the wooden sign.

Next, seal the sign so that the paper doesn't lift up. I used Mod Podge Matte, there is also make an outdoor version if you decide to hang your sign outside. I applied two coats of the sealer, waiting 20 minutes between coats.

Once your sealer has dried, cut twine or ribbon to hang your sign and glue to the back. When the glue is dry, you're all done!
