Sizzix Tutorial | Summer Gift Card Holder by Melissa Fallon

Hey everyone! Melissa here for today’s Sizzix Tutorial. With ice cream season just around the corner, I thought I'd pop in today to share a easy tutorial to create these summer themed gift card holders! With the new Sizzix Die Brush, you can now create more intricate designs without all the hassle of having to manually punch out each hole.

For this project, you will need the Sizzix Bigz Box & Card from Stephanie Ackerman, the Sizzix Waffle Embossing folder from Eileen Hull, the Sizzix Love Story Thinlits from Echo Park, the Sizzix Mint Cutting Pads, and the Sizzix Die Brush & Foam Pad.

To begin, I started by making the main gift card box. To create the sandwich, I layered an Extended Cutting Pad, the Bigz Box & Card Die, the orange paper, and then the Extended Crease Pad on top.

Once cut, I folded the box according to the crease lines to allow the sides to fold easier after using the embossing folder. Before placing in the Sizzix Waffle Textured Impressions embossing folder, I unfolded and flattened the box, leaving only the bottom crease line folded. When using embossing folders in the Sizzix Big Shot machine, open up your Multipurpose Platform to tab 1 and lay down one Standard Mint Cutting Pad. Lay your material inside of the embossing folder and close it. Place this on top of the first cutting pad and then place a second Standard Mint Cutting Pad on top. Roll this sandwich through your Big Shot.

After using the embossing folder, I then used crafter’s tape to adhere the side tabs together.

Once the boxes were assembled, I then moved on to creating the flower topper! To create the sandwich, I layered a Mint Cutting Pad, the Sizzix Love Story Die, the paper, and then another Mint Cutting Pad on top. I then placed this on top of the Extended Multipurpose Platform on Tab 1 and rolled in through the Big Shot.

Once cut, I then placed the die onto the foam pad from the Sizzix Die Brush & Foam Pad for Wafer-Thin Dies set and gently rolled the brush across the die. This tool makes it so much easier to pop out those tiny holes than a toothpick!

I then cut the pink flower embellishment in half and taped it alongside the edge of the box.

Lastly, I added a few buttons for some extra dimension, filled the box with confetti, and popped in a ice cream gift card.
