Is anyone else sooooo super in love with these coffee Sizzix dies by Tim Holtz???? Seriously. A new favourite. I take my kids on a date every single Monday. Not all at once, but in rotation. It is fun. My middle son always wants to go to Indigo & Starbucks. So how fitting!
When cutting these dies in the Big Shot all you need is a pair of Standard Cutting Pads. Make a sandwich with your die and paper between the cutting pads and roll them through your Sizzix Big Shot machine.
Let's begin. I cut the Sizzix Movers & Shapers L Die Tag & Bookplates out of white card stock and then embossed it using the same sandwich mentioned above.
I love using the Colorbox Styluses to add a hint of ink around the edges.
I embossed with the Collage & Notebook Set. When embossing the folders, the same way you die cut applies for embossing folders, however, you would place the sandwich on top of the Extended Multipurpose Platform, open to tab 1. It adds neat dimension to rip the tag and ink it.
When I start assembling this layout, I started with a patterned paper. I added a strip of love paper to break up the background.
I started layering the tag and photo mat on the layout.
Making these coffee cups was fun I used the Sizzix Bigz Die Fresh Brewed to make them look like Starbucks drinks. It's the little touches that really make them look real- vellum lids and corrugated cardboard "sleeves." Here is the steps:
- ink the edges of the white coffee cup very subtly. Add the green circle (imitating Starbucks)
- add a corrugated strip across the cup. Ink this for a more dramatic result
- using vellum, create a lid. I attach it with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L-Adhesive Sheets, that way it is completely invisible
- attach the straw from behind
Here is what they look like when you add a little more decoration.
I really like using this embossing folder on tags for journaling. I always use the Collage & Notebook Set.
Just a thought too, if you really want to make it identical to the Starbucks cup, you can print out the logo, or even if you are lucky you can get a sticker from them. I know they have spoiled my kids with those before. (But I always save them for the scrapbooks)
Hey, if you love these dies and are looking to see more ways they can be used, check out my blog- I created them as Booster Juice cups. Here's a sneak...
