Hi everyone, Mou here with today's post. Summer vacation is almost over here and kids are ready to go back to school. This summer, we built some special memories crafting together. One such day was when we built and decorated our own little birdhouses from chipboard using this fun 3D Birdhouse Sizzix XL Scoreboards die by Eileen Hull. No nails, no hammer, no saw needed!
I cut out the birdhouses from chipboard using my new Big Shot machine. And then the fun began!
TIP: Decorate the individual die cut pieces before assembling the birdhouse.
Next, we chose some Textured Impressions and Texture Fades folders to emboss designs onto our chipboard birdhouse diecuts.
Be sure to position your die cut chipboard pieces inside the embossing folder carefully so you get only the design sections you want. Once all the pieces are embossed, I applied a light coat of Collage Pauge on the outside surface of the body and roof of each birdhouse to seal the chipboard. Once dry, the pieces were ready to be painted on.
After we finished painting the die cut pieces, we inked and sanded the roof pieces gently. We also drew hearts and added some diecuts to embellish our birdhouses. I sealed the pieces with another coat of Collage Pauge.
Finally, we assembled the pieces with Ranger Wondertape to finish our birdhouses.
You can die cut and decorate these birdhouses any day any way to suit any theme. Have to say, the project sure was a boredom buster for the kids and I had so much fun playing with them!
