Hi Leica here!
I have been making jars all day! So far they are just tags, but I am hoping to turn them into a canning recipe album. Won't that be awesome! This die is one of my top 10 faves-must have!!!! It is Sizzix Bigz Die with Textured Impressions Mason Jar. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that it came with an embossed folder that puts the awesome dimension into the jar.
I find I like the look of cutting the jars out of vellum the best. I have tried cutting them out of transparencies and plastic too. Also, I have cut the jar rings out of foil and silver shiny paper. But I found that I prefer this shiny glitter paper from Core'dinations. It is perfect!
When I stamped the cherries, I stamped lots of them in multiples without inking. That gave me lot's of different tones. Same with the green stems. I cut and pasted the cherries to assemble them. I know some people are super talented at stamping two colours on the same stamp- not a forte of mine. So I don't mind piecing them together. I can make so many kinds of jars just with the Framelits dies with Stamps set Tutti Fruitti. I like to tie Baker's Twine around the jar, it gives it a homey look. I used the tiniest tag on this die for the jar tag from the Bigz Die Tiny Tabs & Tags
When I layer the cherries on the jar, you have to put the adhesive on the FRONT (good) side of cherries. I use Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L- adhesive sheets for this. It is awesome, completely see through. Works perfect! I put my favourite cherries on first then I arrange them all around.
Does this inspire you to create a jar? With all the fruit in season right now, a lot of you might be making some yummy jam! Perfect for a layout!
Thanks for looking!
