Hi friends, Nicole here from Modern Handcraft with a quick project for The Sizzix Challenge Halloween; a Black Cat Appliqué Towel! I love decorating for Halloween, and now that I have a toddler in the house we try and make it a little more fun than spooky. This is a great project to use scraps of fabric on, and be creative with little add on's like ribbons and buttons if you like.
All you need for this project is a smooth cotton kitchen hand towel, heat n bond fusible interfacing, and some fun fabric scraps! The Sizzix die used is Bigz L Die Cat, and is perfect for future projects for the cat lovers in your life. Iron your heat n bond to the backing of all fabrics being used set aside to let them cool. Make a Sizzix sandwich by layering your cutting pad, Cat die, fused fabric pieces, cutting pad and roll through your Big Shot machine. Cutting small pieces and placing them over the specific areas you want to cut is an easy way to use your scraps and to eliminate any fabric waste.
Peel the backing paper off of your eyes, nose and whiskers (optional) and iron to your cat face.
Now you can peel off the paper heat n bond backing on the remainder of your pieces and lay out on your towel front. Carefully set your iron straight down on top and press, making sure not to shift any of the cat pieces around.
A quick zig-zag stitch around all of the appliqué pieces and any additional flair like a cute bow can be stitched on now. Congratulations, you are finished!
This makes for an adorable Halloween item for a gift basket addition or an easy way to add some Halloween fun to hand towels you already have at home. Can't wait to see all of your fun Sizzix black cat creations and be sure to check back and see more fun Halloween challenge projects!
