The Sizzix Challenge Halloween | Boo Banner by Melissa Phillips

Hello there!  I've taken the Sizzix Challenge Halloween and am here to share my project with you.  I love creating for Halloween and getting to create with Sizzix dies makes it even more fun.  I whipped up a spooky, Boo Banner using a handful of supplies, so let's get started.

I had some polka dot burlap on hand to create my banner bases from.  After hand cutting those, I die cut three Snowflake Ornament dies by sandwiching it with my paper between a pair of cutting pads and putting it through the Big Shot machine.  I know what you're thinking....snowflakes for Halloween?  Yep, but that's the beauty of creativity, right?  Transforming paper and shapes into little works of art.  I used An Eerie Tale by Graphic 45 for my die cut snowflakes and started piling on the the eerie embellishments.  My center pendant was embellished using the Tim Holtz Gothic Boo Sizzix Bigz Die which is cut using the same sandwich as the Snowflake Ornament.  I die cut it twice, once from gold paper and once from Graphic 45 patterned paper, layering the gold behind.

I created tails for my pendants by using the Sizzix On the Edge Iron Gate Die and the Sizzix Sizzlits Tattered Curvy Banner Decorative Strip Die.  To cut a Decorative Strip sandwich it with your paper between a pair of Decorative Strip Cutting Pads and put it on top of the Multipurpose Platform open to Tab 1. Run that through your Big Shot Machine. An On The Edge die can be cut the same as the Gothic Book and Snowflake Ornament dies. I ran my tattered banners through my Big Shot using the Halloween Words & Cobwebs Texture Fades Embossing Folders between a pair of Standard Cutting Pads on the Multipurpose Platform on Tab 1.

My side pendants were topped with a die cut snowflakes, crepe paper garland, a glittered paper rosette cut using the Sizzix Sizzlit Paper Rosette Decorative Strip Die,  and tulle flowers cut using the Summer Florals Decorative Strip die.  To finish dressing up my banner, I added Graphic 45 An Eerie Tale chipboard buttons, sequins, vintage trim, and scrunched seam binding.

Just the right amount of spooky and sweet.

Hope you'll join in on the challenge!

Melissa
