Sizzix Events: To Bead True Blue With Jill MacKay

To bead, or not to bead... how is that even a question?! Of course we will always choose to bead, especially if that means we are creating some gorgeous jewelry makes! Every year, in Tucson, Arizona, exhibitors gather to showcase their new and exhilarating collection of jewelry, beads and gemstones at the To Bead True Blue  show. This year, we are beyond thrilled to be able to take part in this dazzling event, with some exclusive discounts for those who are able to come visit our booth. Starting January 31st and ending February 8th, our Sizzix team will be at booth GP250, with the amazing and renown Jill Mackay, (who will be demonstrating Jan 31- Feb 3) and the awesome Tammy Honaman (who will be demonstrating Feb 3- Feb 5) from 10am-6pm at the Doubletree Reid Park hotel. We are so excited to showcase our new jewelry makes, and wanted to give you a first look at what's to come.

We love Jill MacKay and can’t wait for her collection to launch this Spring. We have SO much admiration for her amazing work as well as her down to earth, relaxed, awesome personality. Growing up working as a cowgirl on large ranches, Jill brought her western influences into the designs she created for Sizzix, from the look and feel of the "ladies of Aspen" to the Colorado lifestyle with the wide open spaces and vast areas of majestic wilderness, not to mention those high blue skies and unending sunshine. With Jill's love of making jewelry and our die cutting capabilities, a match was made and a jewelry line was born. We are so excited to be working with Jill on this amazing new opportunity to expand our making capabilities to include jewelry, a make that is not only straightforward and easy to create, but breathtakingly beautiful like those magnificent Colorado sunsets.

We can't help but have almost a kid like reaction when watching this video, wanting so desperately to start jewelry making RIGHT NOW! We cannot get over how Jill has eliminated the need for us to cut leather by hand, bringing us the most awesome and intricate dies for us to create unique jewelry pieces that are our own fashion statement.

Did your jaw drop seeing these jewelry makes? That's exactly what our reaction was to seeing all of these beautifully hand made jewelry pieces Jill made using our Big Shot along with her new line of dies. From layered flowers, to intricate leather designs, to sparkled pendants and gorgeously etched and embossed metals, it took everything in us to not try and wear it all at once (someone may have...but we won't name names). Jill thought of EVERYTHING with this line, from Leather Strips, coming in an array of different colors, to designing Custom Findings, to perfectly complete any jewelry masterpiece with essential metal. With this line, our Die Brush & Foam Pad found a way to make its mark for jewelry makers, easily helping to remove pieces from the intricate die cuts. But our stand out accessory with this entire jewelry line, is our brand new Twist & Style Tool. You won't believe the jewelry makes that this fun tool will help to create!

We are twisted up in excitement over our new Twist & Style Tool- it is, quite literally, creativity with a twist! This funky little gadget is designed to work with different types and gauges of wire to quickly (and oh so easily) create custom jewelry; from twisting wires and ribbon, to raffia, cotton or plastic cording- even embroidery floss and fabric strips- this user friendly tool is hands down amazing! With its locking suction cup base, and tapered hook for softer materials, as well as its clamp side for multiple pieces of wire, the Twist & Style Tool provides consistent tension for precise (and gorgeous) results.

We cannot stand ourselves. This bracelet (with a tutorial coming soon from Tammy Honaman) was made using wire and the Twist & Style Tool. It's mind blowing to see something that looks this amazing being made so easily and so simply. As Tammy told us at CHA when we showcased this awesome new tool: "The Twist & Style tool makes twisting wire a breeze! The tool is sized appropriately to handle many gauges and types of wire, including 18-gauge copper wire, 20-gauge sterling silver wire, and enameled copper wire in many gauges and colors. The Twist & Style is a great tool to have on hand and stores easily in a small space so you can keep it handy, right at your bench. I love twisting the wire then using it as an accent on crystal pendants, to make a quick pair of earrings, or to make rings of twisted wire suitable for linking together into a chain. I really love the reaction on people’s faces when they see jewelry made using twisted wire." Keep your eyes out for the Twist & Style Tool! It will be coming soon in the coming months, and we cannot wait!

Also making a grand entrance at our Sizzix booth is our brand new Big Shot Jewelry Studio! This studio includes all of the necessary accessories, along with our lovable Big Shot to get any maker on their way to becoming an expert in Sizzix jewelry! Perfectly cutting many thicknesses and materials, (including Jill's new line of leather) this studio elegantly embosses and etches intricate shapes onto metal blanks and is compatible with Sizzix dies and embossing tools up to 6 inches wide. We cannot wait for this Jewelry Studio, (which will be available in the coming months) giving us a whole new way for making, and accessorizing- not just ourselves with fancy and sparkly jewelry, but for our Big Shot as well! The Jewelry Studio comes with (besides the machine) a  NEW Movers & Shapers Shuttle, a Precision Base Plate, a pair of Standard Cutting Pads, a Platform, and a Wafer Thin Die Adapter. If you already have a Big Shot Machine, don't worry! You won't need to purchase the studio to start making some epic jewelry creations, all you'll need is the Movers & Shapers Shuttle and the Precision Base Plate. (The Multipurpose Platform is the equivalent to the Platform and Wafer Thin Die Adapter.) Jewelry making is about to be entirely transformed, and we cannot begin to articulate how ecstatic we are to see all of your makes and jewelry creations with this studio!

Our first step into the making of jewelry began in 2011 when we partnered with Vintaj to create a fantastic line of beautiful dies for embossing and etching metal. These amazing DecoEtch dies perfectly etch intricate patterns onto a variety of different shapes of Vintaj blanks in numerous, awesome combinations. We are in love with all of these amazing jewelry makes that Vintaj enables us to create and cannot wait to showcase these at the show as well!

We can't seem to say it enough. We are beyond excited to continue to expand and grow our jewelry making to our Sizzix family of crafts, and we are honored and so happy to have Jill MacKay apart of our Licensed Designer Team. If you can't make it out to see us at the To Bead True Blue show, make sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Periscope and Instagram for real time updates while we are at the show. What jewelry projects can you not wait to make?
