Hi all! Tami Mayberry from Create it Simply here with you today to share another quick and easy project you can make using your Sizzix dies.
For this month’s project I used three new dies from the Eileen Hull collection: Heart & Soul Flower, Spring Leaves and Flower Pocket. For the flowers and leaves I used with the Sizzix Big Shot Plus die-cutting machine and a sandwich of a Standard Cutting Pad, followed by the die (cutting side up), material to be cut and the second Cutting Pad. The Flower Pocket was die-cut in the same way except it requires the Extended Cutting Pads.
You may notice that today I said “material to be cut” instead of “paper” like I usually do. One thing I love about Bigz dies is the ability to cut a wide variety of materials beyond just paper. The Flower Pocket die was designed with the use of mat board in mind. I don’t currently have any on hand so I decided to do a little upcycling and used the clear acetate packaging that the die came in. For the flowers and leaves I used felt. That's right, no paper need for this one :)
I began by cutting once side from the package and then die-cut the shapes. Cleanly cut, simple and perfect!!
I then assembled the box using the instructions on the die insert. Once assembled, I wrapped the box with some frayed linen ribbon and brown twine.
Next I die-cut some flower layers and leaves from felt. Which again were clean cut and super simple! I layered the flowers together and secured them with a brad.
I adhered the flowers to the box and then glued a button threaded with twine to the center.
Finally, adhere the felt leaves and fill as desired. Note that this box is perfect for a typical A2 card!
And there you have it—created simply!
