Valentine's Day Countdown: A Sweet Banner From The Heart

Valentine's Day Countdown: A Sweet Banner From The Heart

Hi again! This is Kylie from Made by a Princess. I love Valentine's Day. I don't know if it's the chocolate, the hearts, the flowers, or that there is so much pink to be found but it's my second favorite holiday, just barely under Christmas. Today I am sharing how to make a Countdown to Valentine's Day banner using the cute new dies from Echo Park Paper Co.

I love the new designs from Echo Park Paper Co.! It was really hard to choose just a few because I really wanted them all. I decided on the Echo Park Paper Co Bigz Pocket Heart DieEcho Park Bigz Love Silhouettes Die, and Echo Park Bigz Key to My Heart Die because I thought they would work perfectly for my Countdown to Valentine's Day banner.

I had some red metallic scrapbook paper left over from Christmas projects so I used that for the front of the heart pockets. For the backside I chose Bazzill Ruby Slipper. Using the sandwich method (Cutting Pad, Bigz Pocket Heart Die, paper, Crease Pad) roll your sandwich through the Big Shot Machine until the whole thing has come through on the other side. Do the same thing 13 more times. I was able to cut 6 hearts out of a 12x12 piece of paper.

I made a slight alteration to the directions shown on the packaging. I cut 14 more hearts (using Bazzill Ruby Slipper paper) but cut the tabs off. I wanted the pockets to lay flat since I was using it for a banner.

I then glued the tabs to the Ruby Slipper paper as shown below.

While those were drying I cut out the rest of my pieces. I have lots of gold paper and I really don't like to waste even small pieces. I found a piece big enough to cut out the Love Silhouettes using the sandwich method as above but use both of the Cutting Pads, not a crease pad. I set those aside and moved on to cutting a lot of hearts from the scraps of paper I had left.

Once the pockets were dry I embellished with the cute little Hearts, Banner and Key.

If all 14 hearts don't fit in the space you plan to hang it you can always double up and do two rows.

For each day you could leave a sweet note for your love or a little candy surprise.

The silhouette of the man and woman reminded me of one of my favorite Brad Paisley songs,"All Because Two People Fell in Love" so I placed them in a pretty frame to represent my husband and me.

I'm always grabbing my kids for a smooch so I created a cute little sign to sit next to a bowl of Hershey's Kisses. You can download the sign for FREE here.

I found a pretty gold wire frame for 80% off at Michael's and thought it would be the perfect addition to my tablescape. Check out my blog for a quick tutorial.
