When I saw the Sizzix Bigz Die - Love Silhouettes I absolutely knew I wanted to use it to create valentines. The silhouette images have a vintage feel but are also rather hipster and trendy. Inspired by this look, I combined multiple textures, from wood to felt and fabric, to create elegant modern Valentines with a textural edge.
The variety of materials that can be die cut with the Sizzix Big Shot is incredible! This project highlights four materials that work cut beautifully with Sizzix dies: felt, fabric, wood veneer, and cardstock.
I created a series of heart pockets using the Sizzix Bigz Die - Heart Pockets by Echo Park Paper Co., perfect for filling with candy, and decorated each one individually with die cut from the various materials I had gathered.
I added buttons, lace, hand-stitching, and pins to finish off the look of each heart pocket. I used mini stamps to add sentiments - these heart pockets can be gifted on their own or with a card.
Using the same colors and materials, I created a set of greeting cards that coordinated with the heart pockets I made. I die cut the card bases with the Sizzix Bigz Die - Card, A2 Striped by Echo Park Paper Co. and then used the Love Silhouettes die to cut additional shapes to embellish the cards. Buttons, tags, and stamped sentiments are the icing on top of these mostly monochromatic, romantic Valentine's Day cards.
I made this particular card for a friend of mine who is transitioning to a new time in her life, full of challenges. I added the word "strong" to a tag on the card front to create a card that will uplift her and raise her spirits!
These dies have so much versatility beyond Valentine's Day! How cute would the woman silhouette be on a Mother's Day card? And how perfect the man silhouette would look on a father-themed scrapbook page!
